As the video emphasized, be cautious before clicking on any link in an email, by following the following steps:
- Examine the Sender's Email Address: Fraudulent emails often use addresses that look legitimate at first glance but may have small differences, such as extra characters, unusual domains (e.g., @secure-Amazon-alert.com or Amzon.com instead of @Amazon.com), or misspellings.
- Hover Over Links Before Clicking: Always hover your mouse over any links in the email (without clicking). The true destination will appear in the bottom left corner of your screen. If the URL doesn’t match the official website or looks suspicious, don’t click it.
If you receive an email from your bank or any website involving money or sensitive information, never click the link directly. Instead, open your browser and manually type in the website's address to log in safely.
With the rise of AI, scammers are becoming more advanced. AI can now replicate human voices, which means you may even receive phone calls as a follow-up to an email that sound convincingly like a legitimate person from a trusted entity. It's more important than ever to verify the source before providing any information.
Stay safe and vigilant!
